Thirty-five dancers from the American Spirit Dance Company will have the distinct honor of performing with Kristin Chenoweth on the 118th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA, to be broadcast to 150 international territories.

Seventeen dance teachers from Oklahoma and throughout the United States were on the OCU campus to participate in the first American Dance Master Teacher Workshop, presented by the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management.

Fayard Nicholas, of the famed Nicholas Brothers, passed away peacefully at his home in California on January 24. He was a long-time friend of the dancers here at OCU and recieved an Honorary Doctorate of Performing Arts in American Dance degree in 2002.

OCU receives $3 million from the Inasmuch Foundation. The Oklahoma City-based philanthropic organization is making the gift to construct new dance studios and renovate a current campus building to serve as a new home for the university’s School of American Dance and Arts Management.  The new building will be named the Edith Kinney Gaylord Center.

OCU lost one of its brightest stars recently. Fletcher McClendon, 1990 Dance Performance graduate, passed away September 19. His talent, charisma, and charm will not be forgotten.
