Oklahoma City University American Spirit Dancers, under the direction of dance department chairman and founder Jo Rowan, performed in the opening of the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day 2007 to choreography by Suzie Lelone of Orlando and staging by Chase Senge, both formerly with Walt Disney World in Orlando. Thirty-five students performed supported by four dance management and entertainment business majors serving as assistant stage managers. The performance marked the beginning of the official celebration of the 100th anniversary of Oklahoma statehood and was supported by private contributions to the Oklahoma Centennial Commission.
