Interviews with Sesame Street Muppet Zoe,
National Dance Week's SpokesMuppet
Sesame Street Muppet Zoe is front-and-center celebrating
dance this month. The Children’s SpokesMuppet for National Dance
Week, celebrated April 24 – May 5th, Zoe is leading the campaign
to encourage young children to be physically and socially active through
dance.
Early experiences with creative movement and dance can
build self-confidence and can be one of the first ways children express
themselves artistically. Children can develop the idea , ‘I am
a dancer’—just like Zoe does on Sesame Street—and
one of the most important elements is that it is fun to dance and move
to music.
ZOE, a great role model for kids, is taking the spotlight
in an educational program for the first time. She stars in the special
“Zoe’s Dance Moves” (a new video/DVD) with best friend
Elmo and singer/dancer Paula Abdul (who plays their dance teacher and
shows them a world of dance including African, Asian, hip-hop and ballet)
and encourages kids to get up and move
JO ROWAN, a master ballet teacher and performer, is
