OCU Alumni Success in Film & on Stage

1999 OCU Dance Performance Alumna Heather Garrett has landed a part in a film. She'll be in New York filming for a week at the Guggenheim. It's an art film by a contemporary artist named Matthew Barney. He's known for his performance art, sculptures, and a series of films. He received a $50,000 award from the Guggenheim for his work. His installations and films have been seen in Tokyo, London, New York, and Los Angeles. He used Ursella Andress, the James Bond girl from "Dr. No," in one of his films which is part of the series Heather will be in. She's very excited about this opportunity!

Jodi Shilling has experienced a steady rash of success since graduating from the School of American Dance & Arts Management, having performed in nearly a dozen shows in New York and Chicago. She choreographed an Off-Off Broadway production of Oscar Wilde's Salome in April, and starred as Sarah Goldman in James Sherman's Jest a Second! in June/July in Chicago. Currently, she is co-producing a new Off-Off Broadway show in which she will also perform. Taking advantage of the OCU network of performance and management talent in New York, Jodi, as a producer, has hired Dance Management graduate Ashley Trimble to perform in the new show. In addition to producing and on-stage performance, Jodi has been successful with voice-overs and commercials and has a New York agent to represent her in these areas.
