Yuletide Magic 2001

Shake some sugar on your Holiday season! Oklahoma City University's critically acclaimed American Spirit Dance Company, directed by Jo Rowan, will once again join forces with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic to present Yuletide Magic. This Holiday extravaganza will bring the sights and sounds of the Christmas season to life with magical music, dancing toys, and of course lots of snow!

Yuletide Magic returns to the newly renovated Civic Center Music Hall for this year's performances, after a three-year residence Rose State Performing Arts Center. Susan Powell, John Sawyer and Vince Leseney will star in this year's performance, along with the "Christmas Kids," Haley McFarland, Karli Blalock, Jacob Lynn and Jacob Chancellor. Powell, an OCU alumna and former Miss America, is the host of the cable television show, "Home Matters." Sawyer and Leseney also attended OCU and went on to successful entertainment careers. Sawyer is a former American Spirit Dance Company Member and performed in many productions including Broadway's Civil War. This marks Leseney's third Yuletide Magic appearance. He is a professor at OCU and also directs the Yuletide Chorus.

Performances of Yuletide Magic will be presented December 5 & 6 at 8pm, December 7 & 8 at 8:30 pm and a matinee on December 8 at 2 pm, at Civic Center Music Hall. Tickets are available by calling the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Box Office at 405-842-5387.

Reminiscent of the Christmas extravaganzas seen in New York City, Yuletide Magic, with over 150 dancers and a full, live orchestra, offers something for all tastes. From the rockin' 50's swing number Boogie Woogie Santa Claus or the Celtic-flavored version of Deck the Halls to the zesty Latin Jingle Bells and whimsical Singin' In The Snow, audience members of all ages will be delighted. The ever-popular kick-line, Santa Claus is Comin' To Town and Parade of the Wooden Soldiers will once again be featured and the show will close with a spiritual section featuring Ave Maria, What Child is This? and Oh Holy Night. There's no better way to get ready for the Holidays than to see Yuletide Magic.
