November 17, 2001 Yuletide Magic will bring the sights and sounds of the Christmas season to life with magical music, dancing toys, and of course lots of snow! November 17, 2001 Jo Rowan recently received two major honors for her years of devotion and work toward sustaining dance in education. November 17, 2001 OCU will confer Honorary Doctor of Performing Arts in American Dance degrees on nine individuals who have made significant lifetime contributions to the development, performance, preservation and promotion of tap dance. September 17, 2001 Oklahoma City University dancers have a remarkable presence in the new Broadway production of 42nd Street. September 11, 2001 In August, Dean John Bedford and Jo Rowan, Chairman of the Dance Department, Recieved an honor by the St. Louis Tap Festival along side one of history's legendary tappers. September 11, 2001 OCU is proud to announce Dean John Bedford and Jo Rowan, department chair, will receive the Preservationists Award at the St. Louis Tap Festival. August 20, 2001 Many of the greats of the tap world gathered together at the St. Louis Tap Festival. These tap celebrities came together to congratulate Rowan and Bedford on their recent Presevationists Award. August 20, 2001 Dance performance alumna Kelly Vitacca won the bronze metal (called the Bronze Leo) at the Jazz Dance World Congress 2001 Choreography Competition. July 11, 2001 John Bedford and Jo Rowan will be honored at the St. Louis Tap Festival on August 4, 2001 for their contribution to the arts and entertainment industry in America. May 3, 2001 Jo Rowan boasts that OCU graduates make up 100% of the 1% of working dancers in the business. On Saturday, May 5, 2001, 21 students join the ranks of the other OCU graduate dancers that are constantly working. May 3, 2001 Four years of studies and dedication have come to an end for seven recipients of the Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business. May 3, 2001 A select group from OCU's Students of Arts Management traveled to Austin, Texas in April for a tour of the city's arts and entertainment industries. April 27, 2001 The School of American Dance and Arts Management held it's 3rd Annual Honor & Awards Ceremony to recognize its graduating seniors. February 3, 2001 The American Spirit Dance Company will once again bring audiences to their feet with four performances of the 2001 Spring Show on March 8-10. January 18, 2001 The School of American Dance and Arts Management is proud to present the 2001 honorary awards to Marion Coles, Al Heyward, and Carl Schlesinger. January 11, 2001 While OCU dancers were on Christmas vacation, Dean Bedford and Jo Rowan were busy traveling the country visiting OCU alumni who are dancing in productions all over the US. January 7, 2001 Oklahoma City University conferred the Honorary Doctor of Performing Arts degree on Donald O'Connor on Friday, December 8, during his visit to OCU to attend Yuletide Magic. November 17, 2000 OCU's American Spirit Dance Company will once again dazzle audiences, providing entertainment for the whole family in Yuletide Magic. November 8, 2000 Dance performance alumnus Brad Barnes is currently performing in Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage in Las Vegas. September 25, 2000 A popular campus event for the past 16 years, this year's OCU Student Choreography Show, "You Know This Boogie is For Real," will touch the heart and invigorate the soul. September 1, 2000 From performing and judging to directing and choreographing, the faculty of the School of American Dance and Arts Management was very busy over the summer months. August 31, 2000 OCU Graduate Rick Twombley was honored August 5th when he was awarded the Silver Leo Award for Outstanding Jazz Choreography at the 2000 Jazz Dance World Congress. August 28, 2000 1999 OCU Dance Performance Alumna Heather Garrett has landed a part in a film by a contemporary artist named Matthew Barney. Plus 1999 graduate Jodi Shilling has found success co-producing & performing in a new Off-Off Broadway show. August 4, 2000 While in Las Vegas in July, Dean Bedford and Jo Rowan hosted a reception for OCU dance alumni and attended several performances featuring OCU graduates. July 12, 2000 The dance family recently lost two great members. Dance legends Harold Nicholas and Fred Kelly recently passed away. July 6, 2000 Don Risi and the School of American Dance & Arts Management are excited to announce the debut of our new Arts Management Forum on the Net. July 5, 2000 1992 OCU dance performance graduate Kristin Willits married Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson on June 17th, 2000. June 8, 2000 Lyn recently directed and choreographed the hit musical 42nd Street for Casa Manana Musicals, Inc., of Fort Worth. May 30, 2000 Jo will be a faculty member of the 2000 St. Louis Tap Festival August 1-6, 2000, where she will teach ballet for tap dancers. May 3, 2000 Jo and Dean Bedford introduced three graduating seniors to famed pianist, producer, showman and Emmy Award winner Dino Kartsonakis. March 28, 2000 Entertainment Business major Lindsey Craighead will perform two vocal solos at the Oklahoma Opry Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 8 p.m. March 14, 2000 The American Spirit Dance Company will tour to Los Alamos, New Mexico April 12-16 and present performances at Duane C. Smith Auditorium and the Fuller Lodge. February 14, 2000 The American Spirit Dance Company's 19th Annual Spring Show will dazzle audiences while at the same time honoring Leonard Reed, Jacqui Malone, and Robert Reed January 28, 2000 The School of American Dance and Arts Management is proud to announce the opening of Studio "H." Dancers began using this newly acquired space on January 26, 2000 January 14, 2000 On January 27, 2000, 16 representatives of Students of Arts Management (SAM) will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to observe the intricate and expensive productions for which this famous city is known. |
