Twelve OCU
Dancers Perform at the Capitol Dome Dedication
On November 16, 2002, the
State of Oklahoma dedicated the new dome on Capitol. The Capitol opened
for business in 1917 but was lacking the dome that was part of the original
architectural design. With funding mostly from citizens, businesses,
and philanthropic organizations, work on the dome began in fall 2001.
With the completion of the dome, and thus the completion of the building,
a great celebration ceremony was planned. Six Flags and Silvertree Productions
was charged with producing the event. Oklahoma City University's renowned
American Spirit Dance Company was invited to provide twelve excellent
dancers to perform throughout the celebration with stars such as Amy
Grant, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Susan Powell, Leona Mitchell, Bryan White,
and Jonathan Beck Reed.
The twelve selected dancers
were Elliott Bradley, Temperance Bartholomew, Matthew Cheney, Sarah
Edwards, Nathanial Flatt, Erika Guiberteau, Colby Lindeman, Bria Kinsey,
Ray Rothwell, Heather Morrisroe, Josh Larson, and Courtney Sturgis.
