OVERVIEW

Oklahoma City University is recognized worldwide as a leader in musical theater education. The High School Musical Theater Program is an extension of the acclaimed OCU musical theater degree program, under the direction of Dr. David Herendeen. Students from across the country attend our program which offers both demanding classroom training and on-stage experience.

DETAILS
Our intensive program is for students who are serious about pursuing a career in musical theater performance. Classes are taught by OCU faculty and staff. Mornings are spent in the classroom with a demanding pre-college curriculum of dance, music theater repertoire, music theory, and acting. Afternoons feature master classes in audition preparation, vocal health, musical theater history, monologue preparation, or voice master classes with Bass School of Music faculty or special guests. Evenings are reserved for rehearsals. On Saturday mornings, students get the chance to select their schedule with our "Saturday Electives," featuring such classes as make-up lab, tap, stage combat, and performance career preparation.

The
NEW two week program will feature all the same training that our High School Music Theater program is known for - classes in the morning and afternoons and rehearsals in the evening. The program will culminate in a musical theater revue of solos and ensembles rather than a fully staged musical.

The format of the three week program will remain unchanged and will culminate in a fully staged musical. We are bringing back our hit from Summer 2005, "Les Miserables." We are so excited to reprise this great musical! Casting for the musical will not be held until students check-in for the three week program.

Students who enroll in our NEW five week program will participate in both the revue AND the fully staged musical. Participants in the five week program will not audition for the musical until the third week.

*Students may enroll for two weeks, three weeks or all five weeks.

The OCU High School Musical Theater Program is very selective. Admission is based on a successful live audition or DVD audition submission. Auditions are not accepted on mini DVDs or VHS tapes.
Click here for audition requirements. All students must audition for admission - including students who have attended previously.

EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT
Students who submit an application by January 20th, 2012 receive 15% off their entire tuition. Early application also provides students with good financial aid consideration.
