OVERVIEW

Oklahoma City University is world-renowned for its demanding and professional vocal training, producing award-winning vocalists such as Metropolitan Opera legend Leona Mitchell, Chris Merrit, Marquita Lister, Sarah Coburn, and Broadway superstars Kristin Chenoweth and Kelli O'Hara.

DETAILS

The Vocal Arts Institute is designed to nurture and encourage those who wish to study the art and technique of classical voice and opera. The demanding curriculum examines classical technique, breathing, diction, foreign language and solo repertoire. Studying with the acclaimed faculty of OCU’s Bass School of Music, students will work to develop the entire performer.

Classes include diction, acting, movement, ballet, vocal literature, and vocal technique. Students are in music and staging rehearsals for the performance each afternoon. Evenings feature masterclasses and recital performances. On Saturday mornings, students get the chance to select their schedule with our "Saturday Electives," featuring such classes as make-up lab, pilates, yoga, tap, stage combat, and performance career preparation.

Master classes with OCU faculty will help students prepare for Arts Song Recitals with repertoire in Italian, French, German and English. Each program will culminate with a final performance.

Students who submit an application by January 20th, 2012 receive 15% off their entire tuition. Early application also provides students with good financial aid consideration.
