Special Note:
Dr. Herendeen
created the role of Roderick Usher in the world premiere of the
reconstruction of The Fall of the House of Usher, by Debussy, which
was broadcast on public television.
Accolades:
- Honors include the Deutsche Opera Berlin’s
German/American Award, which brought him to Berlin on a fellowship to
study opera literature.
- He also sang at the Deutsche Opera Berlin as resident
Lyrische/Kavalier baritone.
- Dr. Herendeen was a national finalist in the Merola
Opera Competition, and a regional finalist in the annual Met and NATS
competitions.
Presently:
- As director of opera and music theatre at Oklahoma
City University, he has directed students in 10 productions ranging from
How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying to Marriage
of Figaro.
- In Spring 1999 he led the workshop of
Strike A Match, a new musical
from the team of Alexander & Knight. Herendeen helped shape the work
and directed the world premiere of Strike A Match on October 8
and 10,
