Polaris hosted a Musical Theater Summit on May 10-12, 2001.
The weekend summit convened Broadway's creative giants, performers, and
behind-the-scenes experts to explore the art, the craft, and the business
of creating a musical in the 21st century. Featured participants were:

| Oklahoma City University accepted
unpublished and unproduced works for its Polaris Summit for New Musical
Theater on May 10-12. Members of the Oklahoma Opera and Musical Theater
Company performed a representative scene and two songs from each of four
selected submissions. Winning works included: Merchandise by Mark Sickman
of San Diego, CA; Happy All The Time by Robert Miles & Roberts Rassan
of Sante Fe, NM; Playing the Palace by James Merillat of New York city,
NY; and Poop, The Musical by Joe Major and Catherine Serbousek of Little
Rock, AR. The Summit panel gave critiques and suggestions to the creators
present. |
