VICE PRESIDENT FOR UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS

Art Cotton assumed leadership of the Office of University Advancement and External Relations on August 18, 2003.
Cotton has over twenty years of executive-level administrative management experience working for private and public entities. He came to OCU from the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, where he was vice president of development. Prior to working with OMRF, Cotton was senior director of major gifts for the Oklahoma State University Foundation and chief of staff for Lieutenant Governor Jack Mildren.
Cotton holds a Bachelor of Science in political science (public affairs) and a Master of Arts in public administration/environmental engineering, both from Oklahoma State University. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and Leadership Oklahoma Class II.
Cotton’s wife, Sandy, is the university’s director of development, overseeing alumni, annual, foundation, and corporate support and development services. The couple has four children: Jennifer, Josh, Harrison, and Caroline.
