Robert Henry
President of Oklahoma City University
Henry serves on the board of directors for: Devon Energy; Creative Oklahoma; Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation, Oklahoma Heritabe Association, AMAR International Charitable Foundation in the USA; Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce; Jasmine Moran Foundation Children's Museum; VERA Institute of Justice (trustee); Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation; the Foundation for the Future, based in Amman, Jordan; and the National Advisory Council for the Heard Museum of Native Cultures & Arts. Previous service includes the boards of the National Conference for Community and Justice (formerly the National Conference for Christians and Jews); Oklahoma City Region (president); and the Oklahoma Nature Conservancy.
Robert Henry is the 17th president of Oklahoma City University. Henry returned to OCU after having served as Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He has a long-standing relationship with OCU, previously serving as dean of the OCU School of Law and as tenured professor of law. He taught graduate and undergraduate courses at OCU and has been a frequent guest lecturer. Prior to his appointment to the Court, Henry served as Attorney General of the State of Oklahoma, as well as state representative in Oklahoma's House of Representatives, where he chaired the committees on the judiciary, common education, and the appropriation and budget committee on general government. Henry also practiced law in Shawnee, Oklahoma, for ten years.
Henry was the Inaugural Chair of the American Bar Association's Middle East/North Africa Council and currently serves as Special Advisor to the ABA's Middle East and North Africa Law Initiative Council. Henry received a Citation of Gratitude from the Council of Judges of the Russian Federation and was honored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Information Programs for his rule of law work woldwide.
The recipient of many honors and awards, Henry was inducted into the 2008 Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
