$490 per credit hour. This includes fees but not books.
Will my credits from other schools transfer to Oklahoma City University?
Generally, yes. A maximum of 84 semester credit hours is accepted as transfer hours. (A maximum of 68 credit hours are accepted from lower division college level courses.) Transfer learning can be from any regionally accredited higher education institution, American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations, standardized testing, or portfolio-assisted assessment and we may grant credit for military service. Transfer credits must be a "C" or better and are evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Our Office of Admissions and academic departments will work with you to make your transfer to Oklahoma City University as seamless as possible.
All methods of earning credit are supervised by the faculty and staff who have an ongoing involvement with the School of Adult and Continuing Education and Oklahoma City University.
1. Portfolio Assessment The Portfolio is a formal written communication, presented by the student to the university, requesting credit for extra-collegiate learning. A maximum of 31 credit hours may be earned through portfolio assessment. Each student must complete the Prior Learning Assessment: The Portfolio course, which instructs the student in the development of the portfolio and the process of documenting prior learning before submitting any portfolios for credit. 2. Accelerated Courses Accelerated courses are available for the students to attend class, complete assignments, take tests, etc., just as in any traditional college course. However, each class meets one night per week in eight week modules. New accelerated courses begin January, March, May, August and October. 3. Weekend Courses Weekend courses are accelerated courses, but meet in a 3 weekend course format. New courses begin January, March, May, August and October. Traditional Day and Evening Courses Traditional courses are courses that are listed in the regular semester schedules. Campus courses are scheduled in a typical 16-week term for spring and fall semesters and two six week terms in the summer semester. 4. Web-based Courses Web-based courses are offered within eight or sixteen week modules. You must first enroll in the Adult Learning Seminar offered in the spring and fall terms. You will create an initial portfolio at no cost as part of the coursework. Subsequent portfolios will require a payment of $400 when submitted to the SACE office for review. The portfolio will not be processed until payment is made. Any portfolio's that you want to submit must be submitted prior to the start of your last semester in the program. What if I'm not a Methodist; can I attend Oklahoma City University?
You sure can! Though Oklahoma City University is a United Methodist-related university, we welcome students of all faiths in a diverse student environment.
Is the Career Services office available for use by Adult Studies students?
Absolutely! They now offer "walk in hours" – Wednesday & Friday from 1-3pm. Contact them at 208-5171 for further information or to schedule an appointment. They are located in the Meinders School of Business, room 200.
What is there to do on the Oklahoma City University campus?
A lot! There are so many choices. Whether it's movie night, pizza night, cook outs, concerts, recitals, sporting events, clubs and organizations, Greek life, student senate or intramurals you are looking for, you can find it here at Oklahoma City University. You'll run out of time long before you run out of things to do on campus.
After graduation, when can I expect my diploma?
Once the final grades are posted, the registrars office will certify all graduation applications and order the diplomas. This process can take 6 – 8 weeks. If you "walk" in the May ceremony, but will complete your coursework in the summer term, you will not receive your diploma until late summer.
