Oklahoma City University is committed to the recruitment and retention of National Merit Finalists, National Achievement Scholars and Gates Millennium Scholars. Most of our merit scholar students have two Oklahoma City University counselors to help make the transition from high school to college as seamless as possible.

Merit Scholar Benefits

  • Oklahoma City University offers a four-year, full-tuition scholarship for students named National Merit and National Achievement Finalists. The scholarship is renewable for four years by maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The scholarship is renewable for four years by maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Important Deadlines

In order to receive your scholarship, please follow the deadlines listed below:

December 1, 2014: Must be academically admitted to Oklahoma City University.

May 1, 2015: Must accept National Merit Award.

Send OCU a copy of your National Achievement Finalist letter from the National Achievement Scholarship Program.

Oklahoma City University commits to promote and support the Gates Millennium Scholarship (GMS) and its recipients.

To qualify students must maintain a 3.3 high school GPA, identify as African American, American Indian (CDIB card is required for proof), Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American, and be Pell Eligible. Important Dates to Remember

August 1, 2014: Application Opens

January 15, 2015: Application Closes
It is advised that students have their application complete by December 15th to allow for delays in the postal service, holidays, weather, etc.There are no exceptions made for late applications.
