Scholarships: 2013-2014 Academic Year

Each year OCU awards scholarships to more than 80% of eligible and promising freshman, transfer and graduate students. The application for admission is also the application for most scholarships. Scholarships are based on academic merit or performance. Interest in scholarships may be marked on the International Application form. Once an application is complete with all required documents, the application will be evaluated for all possible scholarships. Click on the scholarships you are interested in for more information:

 

Freshmen University Academic Merit Scholarships

Academic scholarships are based on ACT or SAT test scores (freshmen only), high academic ability as indicated by grade point average, and writing ability as demonstrated within the essay portion of the application for admission. Full-time enrollment of 12 or more hours per semester is required for scholarship.

** Annually, the University offers a limited number of students the opportunity for this prestigious, full tuition scholarship. Apply early!  Issuance of this scholarship is only guaranteed for studentswho apply before November 30, 2012 for the Fall 2013 school year.

Freshmen Departmental Awards**: Petree College of Arts & Sciences, Meinders School of Business and Kramer School of Nursing

In addition, students who are admitted to and enrolled in the Petree College of Arts and Science, Meinders School of Business, or the Kramer School of Nursing will be awarded a departmental scholarship in conjunction with the academic merit scholarship. This award is based on a combination of the student ACT or SAT and High School GPA.

**Students who are admitted to the Wanda L. Bass School of Music, the School of Theatre, or the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management are eligible to audition for talent scholarships and are not eligible to receive these Departmental Awards.

Freshmen International Student Academic and English Proficiency Achievement Awards*    

Freshman International Students with a minimum High School GPA of 3.0 and TOEFL (IBT) of at least 80 or IELTS 6.0 are eligible for these scholarships which may be awarded together.  They may not be combined with any other academic scholarships.

Transfer - Departmental Scholarships (administered by Student Financial Services)

Based on cumulative college GPA, renewable for a maximum of six semesters.  Thesse scholarships are for students with majors within Kramer School of Nursing, Meinders School of Business, and Petree College of Arts and Sciences.  Full-time enrollment of 12 or more credit hours per semester is required.

Herman Meinders Business Transfer Scholarship

For Oklahoma City Community College Students Only

The Herman Meinders Business Transfer Scholarship is a $5000 per semester award (with a maximum of $10,000 per academic year) for students transferring a minimum of 30 credit hours from Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) into Oklahoma City University's Meinders School of Business.  To receive the award, an applicant must be transferring in at least a 2.5 cumulative college GPA on the transferred 30 credit hours. 

The Scholarship is renewable for up to six consecutive semesters (a maximum of three years) by maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA and is stackable with other scholarships.  There is no application or interview required.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships

Candidates must be an active member of their Phi Theta Kappa chapter, have 48 semester-quality hours and at least a 3.5 GPA. NON-MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS/Special Package Pricing 

TESOL students have the option to make a one-time payment of $21,000 which will include all tuition and all fees for the 36-credit hour program.  Students must be fully admitted to the TESOL program to qualify.
