DEGREE PROGRAMS The School of Adult & Continuing Education is Oklahoma City University's adult degree completion program. It features a flexible and accelerated format with eight-week classes on weekday nights, weekends and online. Through portfolios, you can receive credit for college level work experience and learning. You can choose from the following degree programs. Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies,Concentration in Accounting. Oklahoma City University, through its School of Adult & Continuing Education in conjunction with the Meinders School of Business, is proud to introduce its newest degree program—the B.S. in Professional Studies with a Concentration in Accounting. Designed for students who desire a more focused degree than is offered by typical programs in General Business, the 30 credit hours of accounting courses are taught exclusively by faculty from Oklahoma City University’s Meinders School of Business. The professional studies major with concentration in accounting totals 39 credit hours. Fifteen hours of professional studies major requirements, six hours of which are accounting courses, are supplemented by an additional 24 upper-division hours of accounting courses. Students must complete the School of Adult & Continuing Education’s general education program and additional elective hours may be required to complete the minimum 124 credit hours required for graduation. The behavioral studies major emphasizes acquiring a knowledge of the influences on human activities revealed through the study of history and analyzed by the behavioral sciences (principally psychology, political science and sociology). Students study what people say and do by analyzing this behavior and the social and political structures in which that behavior occurs. Students learn to clarify, describe and predict behavior, as well as analyze changes in behavior due to individual, social and political factors. Behavioral studies students are prepared for service-related occupations (e.g. human resources and criminal justice, for example) and for graduate studies in psychology, sociology and social work.
