BACHELOR OF SCIENCE: TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT
This concentration is designed for students with an extensive background in a technical field. The adult best suited for this concentration is usually in a supervisory job: training others, overseeing production line, or managing departments.
The student with expertise in a specific field should have competency in communicating technical knowledge to others through direct training, general supervision, leading meetings, making presentations, or providing on-the-job training.
PLUS offers a professional studies major with a concentration in technical management. To earn this Bachelor of Science degree, students must complete their general education requirements and 33 hours of technical supervision course work.Additional hours of elective study may be required to complete the minimum 124 hours of credit needed for graduation.
Program Structure The 33 credit hours consist of 12 hours in a technical field and 21 hours of management courses. Classes will meet one evening a week for eight weeks during the spring and fall terms and during the summer I and summer II sessions, beginning every January, March,May,June,August, and October. Students may begin course work in any session.A minimum of 15 credit hours in the area of concentration must be earned through Oklahoma City University.

Principles of Management and Organizations This course provides an in-depth study of the role of management in the business setting, as well as a study of the concepts and factors of human behavior in the organizational environment. Motivation and leadership are stressed. Included is the consideration of concepts of psychology and social psychology of individuals and groups as applicable to industrial organizations.
Ethics of Communication Students will develop a systematic means of evaluating the ethics of human communication in all of its settings.
MIS or Information Technology Course Select an information technology course or computer-related course as approved by PLUS advisor.
Cross Cultural Management This course provides students with an applied understanding of interpersonal management and the complexities associated with diversity in international management. Apply class discussion to actual business case situations.
Program Design in Organizations Program design is a process that helps organizations achieve their missions through successful completion of a series of projects, focusing on the end product or service. This course includes consideration of people skills needed by managers, scheduling methods, organizational culture, authority, responsibility, accountability, planning strategies, project information for monitoring, and the control function.
Professional Development Electives Select approved professional development courses within the management field (personnel management, technical writing, etc).
Technical Courses These credits will come from the adult learner’s previous transcripts and/or experiential learning. (12 credit hours)
