Education professor Dr. Liz Willner has succeeded Liz Donnelly as the OCU campus advocate on the R is for Thursday (R4T) network. R4T is a statewide collaboration of higher education professionals, community members, and organizations, and foster alumni college students/graduates working toward increased understanding and support of former foster youth attending Oklahoma colleges or universities.
The campus advocate's job is to support OCU who have been in foster care and may have different needs than other students. The group sponsors independent living workshops for current foster youth who are between 16 and 18 years old.

For the fifth time, the Education Department has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to support Connecting Across Cultures 5.0 conference in March of 2016. Professors Laura Wilhelm and Liz Willner wrote the $10 thousand grant. They will be joined by Lois Lawler Brown and Lisa Delgado Brown as they prepare for the event that will include teacher education students from universities across the state. The topic will be Supporting Students in Poverty.
