The OCU Athletic Hall of Fame breakfast was observed, Saturday, September 27, and recognized three inductees - former soccer player Richard Benigno (1986-1990), former softball player Lisa Navas (1984-1987) and former basketball player Larry Bradshaw (1954-1957).
After graduating from OCU, Benigno competed professionally in England, Germany and Switzerland. He was on the original soccer team at OCU and helped lead the squad to two 19-win seasons, in 1988 and 89, and advance to being the District 9 champions and Area III Runner-up.
"The most fun I had playing soccer was during my time at OCU," said Benigno. "All those great times I spent with my teammates are very special to me."
Navas was on the very first softball team at OCU. She is currently the head softball coach at North Carolina State.
"This is a great honor to be inducted in the OCU Hall of Fame," said Navas. "My experience at OCU has helped me become who I am today, and I appreciate all of those who were involved in influencing, teaching and coaching me during those years."
Bradshaw was a member of two OCU basketball teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament in 1956 and 1957. In 1957, OCU advanced to the Sweet 16.
"Oklahoma City University is a good place, and I owe a lot to this place," said Bradshaw. "OCU made me what I am today."
