Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Meinders MBA
Preparing for a career in business requires choosing the best business school – one with top faculty, impactful research, driven students, and the highest standard of quality. The Meinders MBA program, accredited by AACSB, provides students with the knowledge and understanding of financial, accounting, marketing and operational functions within an organization.

Learn to Think on the Executive Level
Students have the opportunity to analyze the working parts of a company and how they come together to achieve profitability. Classes are taught by experienced industry professionals with outstanding academic and business credentials who maintain a contemporary, business-related focus to the classroom. Students can choose among different concentrations within the following formats. 

Traditional On-Campus—The traditional on-campus program offers the full-time or part-time student the opportunity to complete required course work at Oklahoma City University’s Meinders School of Business during the traditional academic year (fall and spring semesters, summer I and summer II terms).

Accelerated (live or online*)— Accelerated (On-Campus or Online) —The accelerated format offers the working professional a series of nine-week cycles, on-campus, or in some cases online, with classes meeting one night each week. The program may be completed at a pace chosen by then student. Availability of online courses is limited and the final capstone course must be taken on-campus. Applicants for the accelerated program should have three or more years of relevant business experience.

Specializations

Students seeking a specialization will take an additional 3-9 credit hours, replacing the elective block in the MBA generalist track. The area of specialization will be noted on the student’s transcript.    

Generalist: For those on the fast track with a desire to gain a general understanding of the nature of business and essential managerial skills.
Accounting Specialization: Designed for the manager who desires more in-depth knowledge of tax or general accounting.
Finance Specialization: Prepares professionals to understand the impact of financial decisions in nearly every aspect of the organization.

Marketing Specialization: Marketing managers have the opportunity to analyze actual business situations and design advertising and marketing campaigns.
Joint JD/MBA: Designed to develop synergy and build on the unique attributes from both the Meinders School of Business and the School of Law. To participate in this program, students must be admitted to both schools; all the usual entrance requirements apply.

The MSA Program at Oklahoma City University

Program Highlights

The Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) is a highly structured program designed for students who desire careers in public accounting, corporate accounting, government accounting and similar endeavors. Students obtain an in-depth knowledge of highly technical financial accounting standards, auditing standards, tax statutes and regulations. Qualified students may complete the degree in 30 hours of study and will have met the educational requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam in most states.  

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements Applications are evaluated using several factors, including:

  • Prior college cumulative GPA
  • Professional work experience, academic and/or professional accomplishments
  • Letters of recommendation and personal statement
  • GMAT score*

*GMAT score not required with either (1) 15 accounting hours with ≥ 3.00 GPA (Students planning to take additional Accounting prerequisite courses may be admitted to the MSA program subject to the condition that their Accounting course grades subsequently satisfy this standard) or (2) 5 years accounting experience. International students must demonstrate adequate English proficiency. Prerequisites may be required before student can enter into the MSA program if certain criteria are not met.

  • Two years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Statement of purpose (minimum 500 words) addressing background in the energy industry, business experience, and purpose for seeking degree.
  • Full professional resume
  • Two letters of recommendation from employers/supervisors
  • Qualifying GMAT/GRE score(score may be waived based on work experience)

Current Tuition and Fees

Tuition for both the Master of Science in Energy Management and Energy Legal Studies is determined in an effort to ensure that these innovative degrees are of the highest quality in all aspects. The total current tuition for the 10 degree courses in either program is $28,080. The total current fees for the 10 degree courses in either program is presently is $3450. Tuition at entrance to the program will remain the same during your program, but fees may be adjusted by the University, if necessary. Textbooks are not included. 2/14/14

Master of Computer Science (MSCS)

The MSCS Program at Oklahoma City University

Department Objectives

The Master of Science in computer science degree offers professional development and enhancement of skills, in-depth study of computers, and a balance of abstract knowledge and practical understanding. The program is designed to aid and encourage professional development for persons in computer or computer-related fields. It is designed for students who desire to enhance their computer skills, extend their expertise into computer science as a new field, enhance their credentials, enter the job market as a computing professional, or pursue a Ph.D. in computer science. The curriculum is structured to permit students to strengthen their understanding of the complexities of computers and computer applications and, through choice of appropriate elective courses, to specialize in database systems if desired.

Undergraduate Prerequisites

All graduate students, depending on their undergraduate background, may be required to complete undergraduate courses as prerequisites, specifically Introduction to Operating Systems, Discrete Mathematics, and Data Structures. Transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis by the graduate faculty.
