VISUAL IDENTITY & PUBLICATION POLICIES COLORS QUALITY RESTRICTIONS THE UNIVERSITY LOGO EEOC STATEMENT THE UNIVERSITY CREST THE STARS LOGO PUBLICATION GUIDELINES
Dear faculty and staff members: Oklahoma City University is a diverse institution comprised of many separate units. All of these units are part of the larger institution. It is our shared responsibility to help build consistent recognition and understanding of the university as a whole.
One of the most important ways to build what marketers call "brand identity" for Oklahoma City University is through consistent use of identifying colors and graphics. The appearance of our advertising, correspondence, publications, signs, and other presentations shape attitudes about the institution. A consistent visual identity helps others recognize the university. This guide updates rules set down by resolution of the board of trustees in 1999. In May 2002 the board unanimously adopted these revised visual identity standards. Anyone producing materials that represent the university or one of its units is required to follow these guidelines.
Another important factor in presenting a consistent image for the university is a single point of contact for the media. Please also follow the media policy in this guide.
Thank you for helping the continued progress toward a strong and well-coordinated public identity.
Sincerely,
Tom J. McDaniel President
Bernie L. Patterson Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs^top^
VISUAL IDENTITY AND PUBLICATIONS POLICIES
Adopted by the Oklahoma City University Board of Trustees - May 2002
Use the approved university logo prominently on all materials of the university or its various colleges, schools, and departments. The logo's text and graphic elements should not be used separately unless the full logo appears prominently elsewhere on a piece.
Discontinue use of other logos previously representing the university.
The Stars logo is an athletics and campus spirit symbol and should not be used in place of the university logo.
The university crest is only for use on special documents like diplomas and certificates, and should not be used as the university logo. (For approved uses of the university crest, contact Academic Affairs or Communications & Marketing.)
Printed materials should follow the guidelines in this document. All pieces produced by colleges, schools, departments, or offices of the university should be approved, prior to publication, by the staff of the Communications & Marketing Department, who may require changes to graphics or text to bring them into compliance. If you have questions about these policies, call the Marketing & Communications Department at 405-208-5818. Provide enough advance notice to allow scheduling of a proper review.
Materials intended for external distribution that do not follow this policy may not be paid for by any university funds, including auxiliary, discretionary, or other special accounts.
To comply with the logo policy and save money, the university's business office has had new generic stationery and envelopes printed for use by all departments. You are not required to throw out existing stock; continue using what you have until it is gone. For information about reordering, please contact the business office at 208-5498.
The official style guide adopted by the university is The Chicago Manual of Style. Refer any style questions to Academic Affairs or Communications & Marketing.^top^
