University Counseling services are available for currently employed OCU staff and faculty. Our goal is to provide short-term mental health services that will assist OCU students, faculty, and staff with emotional development, problem solving and decision making capabilities.

What can you expect?

You will be treated with dignity and respect. Therapy is not always easy; you may have feelings of frustration or feel your symptoms are worsening during the process. It is important to communicate any such feelings to your therapist.

  1. Sessions are typically 45 to 50 minutes.
  2. OCU University Counseling services are free of charge.
  3. OCU University Counseling services are short-term. A client is eligible for no more than 6 sessions per semester. Should you need longer term services, your OCU therapist will make a referral for you.
  4. Services may be terminated at any time at the discretion of the therapist for any reason. In the event of termination, appropriate referrals will be made.

University Counseling services are confidential. No one will be aware of a client seeking counseling services unless the client chooses. A written release signed by the client is required for information to be given to anyone by your OCU therapist. There are limits to confidentiality, however, such as in cases of imminent danger to self or others or in the case of child abuse. In such cases the therapist is required by law to take steps to ensure the safety of any person.
