Annual Spring Audition

8:30-9:30       Dancer preparation
9:30-10:15     Performance by The American Spirit Dance Company
10:15-10:55   Introduction of auditioners
10:55-11:00   Assignment of auditioners to studios
11:00-12:00   Warm-up Class
12:00-1:00     Technique Class (Tap, Jazz or Ballet)
1:00-2:00       Lunch, served on the lower level of the Gaylord Center
2:00-3:00       Technique Class (Tap, Jazz or Ballet)
3:15-4:15       Technique Class (Tap, Jazz or Ballet)
4:15-6:30       Auditioners' solo performances: 
Auditioners perform a dance of your choice to a CD you bring with you; limit thirty seconds please.

Auditioners must complete all technique sessions and the personal performance.

All sections of the audition will be held in the Gaylord Center.

Only ONE observer per auditioner.

Solo performances will be closed to observers.

Eligibility Requirements


To be eligible to register for the dance program auditions or video submissions, auditioners (domestic or international) must have at least one of the following:

  • ACT score of 20 or above
  • SAT score of 950 or above (excluding the writing test) for SAT test taken prior to March 2016
  • SAT score of 1030 or above for SAT test taken March 2016 or after

Transfer Students: Transfer students are required to submit college transcripts to be evaluated to be eligible to audition.  Transfer students with less than 27 completed semester credit hours of academic courses must have qualifying ACT or SAT scores as described above for entering freshmen and a cumulative GPA of 2.75.  Transfer students for all degree programs with over 26 completed semester credit hours of academic courses must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Transcripts may be sent prior to registering for the audition or immediately after registering. Transcripts do not have to be official copies. Registration Deadline 

The registration deadline is Friday, March 17.

Registration Fees

$26 through January 29
$34 after January 29

$11 without lunch
$17 including lunch at the Gaylord Center 

Note: No one may observe or participate in the audition unless registration fees have been received by the registration deadline, Friday, March 17, 2017. Late registrations received after the registration deadline will be returned or refunded.
