Patricia Oplotnik, Artist-in-Residence in Tap and Tap Pedagogy, has served on the faculty of the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management at Oklahoma City University since 2000 and has been a dance teacher for over 40 years.
A 36 year member of Dance Masters of America, Oplotnik is a nationally certified examiner for tap, ballet, jazz, and acrobatics. She has served Dance Masters of America as an area vice-president and has been a certified international tap judge. She presently serves as president for the Oklahoma chapter of Dance Masters of America.
Ms. Oplotnik has trained many successful dancers who are now working in entertainment centers including New York and Los Angeles and has trained many dance instructors. One of her former students holds the International Tap Organization record for winning both the Junior and Senior World Female Tap Solo Championships within the same year. She has placed several students on the prestigious US Tap Team.
Ms. Oplotnik has pursued dance training throughout the United States and Europe and most recently completed a tap residency with Heather Cornell in d’Ozlihan, France. She has studied with tap masters such as Louis Dapron, Buster Cooper, Joel Ruminer, Al Gilbert, June Runyon, Rhonda Miller, David Howard, Danny Daniels, Phil Black, Beverly Fletcher, and many more.
As a choreographer, she has produced shows in Branson and The Benjamin Hit Show in Las Vegas. American Kids named her “Teacher of the Decade.” She has adjudicated and taught for many dance organizations including Dance Masters of America, H&H Dance Troupe, Texas Association of Teachers of Dance, Oklahoma Dance Masters, Footloose, and more. Her choreography for the American Spirit Dance Company has been performed on tour in the United States and Asia.
