Patricia Goulding
2006 Preservation
of our Heritage in American Dance Award Recipient
Mrs. Patricia Goulding, Executive Director of National Dance Week,
brings to her position a background rooted in dance education having
taught the dance arts for more than 35 years in both academic and studio
settings. A graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs.
Goulding also holds licensure as a Registered Nurse and is a published
author with articles in many periodical publications and the historical
study, "Growing Up Golden." She has held membership in Dance Masters
of America, Dance Educators of America, the Dance Registry and the
honor society, Phi Kappa Phi. Her experience in teaching the dance
arts to special needs students is strong as is her work with liturgical
dance groups. She began with NDW as National Coordinator of Regional
Directors and was instrumental in establishing the present format which
is followed for assigning such delegates and overseeing their varied
activities and events. Mrs. Goulding also conceived the Academic Project
and Mentor Program of NDW. Her eclectic background brings a rich range
of understanding to the many different facets of dance in America today
and she has made concerted efforts to have all aspects of the art and
therapeutic dance form represented in the annual NDW celebrations.
