The Importance of Diversity in the Legal Profession

Featuring the release of the 2008-2009 OCU Law Diversity Calendar

Tony Coleman served three Senate Pro Tempores of the Oklahoma Senate over seven years before entering private practice. Tony holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma (2001) and a Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University (2005). Tony is a member of the prestigious National College for DUI Defense. Tony is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Oklahoma County Bar Association, and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court in the Western District of Oklahoma. Tony is founder and partner in the law firm of Goza, Washington, & Coleman.

A reception will follow in the Norick Lounge. This event is co-sponsored by Multicultural Student Affairs

If anyone is interested in law or curious about law school, this event is for you.

Perhaps no one has ever talked to you about law school. No one talked to me about law school until my senior year of undergraduate school. Regardless, this event is for you.

Perhaps you are considering another graduate program. I feel the legal profession is the best profession on the planet. This event is for you.

Perhaps you are undecided about which graduate program to pursue. This event is for you.

Please make plans to attend. The event will be catered. There will be law students, law faculty, as well as attorneys, and other members of the legal profession in attendance to answer your questions.

The Martin Luther King Jr celebration will be held on January 22, at 6:30pm in the Bishop W Angie Smith Chapel.

February 1, 2008
OCU’s Hispanic Student Association hosts the Latino Youth Leadership Conference each February. The conference provides a forum for future leaders of the Hispanic community to come together in a comfortable, open environment to educate, discuss, motivate, and build today’s leaders. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will be January 16, at 7 p.m., in the Bishop Angie Smith Chapel. The services includes student-led music, and Bishop Robert Hayes, Jr. will be the keynote speaker. This event is free to the public. For details contact Clint Normore, 405-208-4908.

Multicultural Student Affairs
presents the Cultural Compass Conference:
Using Higher Education to Natigate a Culturally Diverse World.

Bishop Robert E. Hayes, Jr., will be the featured speaker for this symposium. Student panel discussions will be held on Cultural Leadership, Cultural History, and Economic and Business Development.

Otis Collier, author and recruiter, presented two hands-on lab workshops on mining the Internet for exceptional faculty and staff candidates.

October 3
Dr. George Wright, author, and president of Prairie View A&M University, in Prairie View, Texas, led discussions on the benefits of a diverse faculty with a diverse group of OCU faculty and administration. He also presented a keynote address to the campus community.
