Teaching and Research Interests:
A specialist in film and British literature, Dr. DiPaolo has also studied Irish literature, American Romanticism, and Medieval literature. He strives to share his enthusiasm for fiction with his students and to encourage critical thinking, active reading, and frequent escape attempts from Plato's cave.
Author of Emma Adapted: Jane Austen's Heroine from Book to Film (2007) and War, Politics, and Superheroes: Ethics and Propaganda in Comics and Film (2011) ; editor of the composition textbook The Conscious Reader, Godly Heretics: Essays on Alternative Christianity in Literature and Film, and co-editor of Devised and Directed by Mike Leigh.
