Teaching and Research Interests:
Dr. Sen's primary interests include early modern literature and culture, performance history, gender theory, and postcolonial studies. She believes in helping students mature into critical readers and innovative thinkers who are capable of negotiating and producing new ways of understanding in the classroom and beyond. While emphasizing close-reading and analysis, she considers interdisciplinary approaches and closer acquaintance with the contexts of literary production vital to student learning. She has published on Bollywood appropriations of Shakespeare and work on early modern drama, cosmopolitanism and transculturation, particularly the impact of the burgeoning seventeenth-century English trade with the East Indies.
