Congratulations, Ed!
November 2012
Odalie Wildes
Education Mobility Specialist, Kramer School of Nursing
We are pleased to announce that Odalie Wildes is the November 2012 Employee of the Month. Chief of Staff Craig Knutson, Dean Marvel Williamson, and Associate Professor Denise Burton all had the honor of making the presentation of the traveling star trophy to Odalie at a school luncheon on Halloween.
As an RN to BSN specialist, Odalie coordinates student admission through preliminary advisement of prospective candidates to the program. She assists students in academic planning and tracking each semester as well as assisting faculty in student advisement, including on-line enrollment. Participation in recruitment activities within and outside of the School of Nursing is a another part of her role. Of all those functions, Odalie says that she most enjoys her initial contact and interaction with the prospective students as they consider continuing their education. She notes that it is a pleasure to go over the RN to BSN education information, to encourage them, and to watch how excited they are to have found our school and degree program. “It is so rewarding for me to be there when they graduate, as they experience the feeling of achievement and accomplishment for their hard work to obtain the degree,” Odalie commented.
Odalie’s dedication to her role and her resulting successes were noted by her colleagues in their nominations of her. They recognized her for making the students’ transition into the university as seamless as possible and for working tirelessly as an advocate for OCU. According to them, Odalie gives a listening ear to the students, staff, and faculty and is approachable, timely, friendly, courteous, and models respect and appreciation for a diverse university community.
You may have admired some of Odalie’s one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry pieces at the recent United Way auction/fundraiser. This is one of the many crafts she finds pleasure sharing, along with the time she gives each year as the United Way representative for Kramer School of Nursing.
Congratulations, Odalie!
