Types of Assistance
Because we believe we offer you an education like no other, Oklahoma
City University will do all we can to assist with your educational costs. We'll
take your academic talents, personal qualities, and/or financial need
into consideration when determining eligibility for financial assistance.
Every year, nearly 85 percent of Oklahoma City University students receive
financial assistance in many different forms:
- Student
Loans (Stafford and Perkins) and Graduate PLUS loans (GPLUS) are funds provided
by the federal government, which must be repaid. Different types of
student loans may be available, depending on your eligibility for each.
- Part-time
campus employment opportunities are available to help assist with
your expenses through the Human Resources Office.
- The Distinguished Scholarships and Internship Office at OCU can provide information about national scholarships and internships as well as Oklahoma scholarship opportunities. Dr. Abigail Keegan, the coordinator, offers advice to students on scholarship and intern preparation and assists students throughout the application processes.
- Oklahoma City University Scholarships are awarded by the University and do not have to be repaid. Your application
for admission serves as your application for merit-based aid. Just indicate
on your application for admission the types of scholarships for which
you would like to be considered. We will use your FAFSA to determine
eligibility for scholarships that are awarded on the basis of financial
need.
- OCU Endowed Scholarships are available and awarded based on many factors such as membership in the United Methodist Church, athletics, academics, leadership skills, career goals, and financial need. They do not have to be repaid. We will use your FAFSA to determine eligibility for scholarships that are awarded on the basis of financial need. Need-based, endowed scholarships are funded by individuals or organizations outside the University. Most scholarships require that you write a letter of acknowledgement (thank you letter) to the person or organization making your scholarship possible. You will be notified to whom these letters should be written by the end of September. A hold will be placed on your student account until a signed copy of your thank you letter is received in the Office of Financial Aid. Failure to send a thank you letter could hinder your future eligibility for endowed scholarships..
- Graduate assistantships and graduate
scholarships are available for graduate students who are enrolled
in at least nine credit hours at Oklahoma City University, or six credit
hours in the accelerated M.B.A. program. Contact financial aid for more information.
