Speech and Debate
Scholarship Application

POTENTIAL STUDENTS

OCU will provide scholarship opportunity to qualified students who are serious about forensics competition while earning a degree. We will work with students, who truly want to come to OCU, to create an affordable financial aid package. Please note that all speech/debate scholarship recipients are required to participate at the level of “national competitor” (See “Levels of Involvement” found in this site for a brief description of the workload). Prior experience in forensics is of course an advantage to applicants, but by no means a prerequisite for serious consideration.

Here is how to apply:

1. Apply for admission to the university

2. Submit a speech/debate scholarship application to:

Ann Hamilton, Director of Forensics
Oklahoma City University WC 250
2501 N. Blackwelder
Oklahoma City, OK. 73106

The application should include the following:

-Application Letter with contact information;
-A vita/resume (including a record of forensics awards (if applicable);
-3 letters of recommendation with contact information;
-Contact information for a former speech/debate coach (if applicable).

3. Apply for any other O.C.U. scholarships appropriate to the situation.

4. Qualified applicants will be asked to “tryout” as part of the application process. The “tryout” meeting/interview is tailored toward each person’s level of experience. If a trip to campus is not possible, the “tryout” can be completed through electronic means.

CURRENT STUDENTS

Are eligible for scholarship money as well. The application process for current students begins by joining the team and beginning competition.
