We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.
OCU's Phi Alpha Theta chapter primarily is involved with the Hunger Banquet, which benefits OKC-based World Neighbors. In 2005, we raised over $3,100 for World Neighbors and their fight to end poverty.
Requires 12 hours of history with at least a 3.10 GPA in those classes.
Requires a 3.0 GPA overall.
Membership fee of $40 is good for lifetime membership in the Honor Society.
Phi Alpha Theta also has a sister organization--the History Club, which was created for those who dod not meet the requirements of Phi Alpha Theta, but would like to stay involved with the society and their activities.
