Welcome to the Department of Kinesiology and Exercise Studies at Oklahoma City University. Kinesiology and exercise studies is a major with a broad application. It prepares students for several careers and educational endeavors, including prephysical therapy, preoccupational therapy, preathletic training, cardiac rehabilitation, personal training, strength and conditioning specialist, fitness and wellness management, sport nutrition, health promotion, several other related areas, and graduate school. The curriculum has been designed to meet the standards set by the National Association of Sport and Physical Education. The curriculum is also based on guidelines for educational preparation for fitness and personal trainer certifications by the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. These two organizations offer the most prestigious and complete certification programs in the fitness industry.
