A LETTER FROM THE NWLSA CONFERENCE DIRECTOR
The NWLSA chapter at Syracuse University College of Law is very honored to be hosting the 2005 Conference! Our members have been working very hard to create an agenda of meaningful activities for conference attendees.
This year’s theme is “Today’s Women in Tomorrow’s World: Challenges and Achievements.” Our keynote speakers include Tonya Robinson, an attorney with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, who represented the University of Michigan during the affirmative action admission policy cases of Grutter and Gratz in 2003. Also speaking will be Noreen Farrell, a staff attorney at Equal Rights Advocates in San Francisco, about Dukes v. Wal-Mart, the largest ever sex discrimination lawsuit against a private employer. Finally, Dr. Doris Marie Provine, Director of the School of Justice and Social Inquiry at Arizona State University, will be presenting her talk entitled “Have Women Achieved a Revolution?” which will focus on what has been done and what needs to be done to achieve gender equality.
More information can be found on these pages about other conference activities, including a number of exciting workshops and the Sojourner Truth Moot Court Competition. We sincerely hope you will join us at the conference!
