Data Standards (guidelines for document production using USPS address standardization)
An often overlooked component of a strategic career plan is the systematic and ongoing development of professional documents that convey the qualifications and intentions of the applicant. The ability to customize resumes and cover letters for positions in the legal profession is a critical skill that is many times ignored until the “last minute.”
A successful employment campaign will undoubtedly incorporate correspondence related to matters such as informational interviews; networking with professional development mentors; accepting job offers; declining job offers; follow-ups; thank you’s, etc. The PCDC can assist students with drafting these documents and provides online examples.
The PCDC specializes in helping students develop compelling documents and provides useful word processing tips. In addition to these examples, there are other types of documents that play a critical role in the professional and career development process. The information contained in this section will highlight what these are and how they are to be treated. The above links will take you to a more detailed discussion of each area and to examples of documents.
