Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
at OCU LAW

ADR is one of the hottest topics in the law today – and for good reason. An estimated 90-98% of all cases filed are resolved through some form of alternative dispute resolution. Even to get on the trial docket, most jurisdictions will require some type of pretrial ADR process. Plus, negotiation, mediation, and arbitration are the lifeblood of a transactional (corporate or commercial) law practice.

The ADR Program at OCU LAW is over a decade old and provides students with a variety of practical training opportunities, including the innovative ADR Curriculum.

The Center on Alternative Dispute Resolution at Oklahoma City University School of Law provides coherence and structure for the varied activities of OCU School of Law in the areas of negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. The founding Director of the Center on ADR is Professor Phyllis E. Bernard, the Robert S. Kerr., Jr. Distinguished Professor of Law.

Distinguished adjunct and visiting faculty members also teaching in the ADR curriculum include:

Ann D. Marshall, Esq.
Honorable Kim Parrish

For more information about ADR at OCU LAW, contact Professor Phyllis Bernard, 405-208-5412 or pbernard@okcu.edu.

From 1994 until 2004, OCU LAW also hosted the Early Settlement Central Mediation Program, which provided convenient access to fair, effective, inexpensive, and expeditious mediation services for residents of Oklahoma, Cleveland, and Candian counties in central Oklahoma.   Further information about this program may be found at the Alternative Dispute Resolution Early Settlement Mediation program web site.
