Merit Scholarships for Incoming 1L Students All applicants to OCU LAW are considered by the Admissions Committee for scholarships These awards are based primarily on excellence at the undergraduate level and a strong performance on the LSAT. No separate application required. Please note that a separate application is required for the Hatton W. Sumners Scholarship (due Feb 1). If you do not receive a scholarship as an entering student, the School of Law awards a variety of scholarships after your first year. Most of the scholarships for returning students are based strictly on classroom performance (law school GPA and class rank). Additionally, there are external scholarships and writing competitions. Application Due: February 1 Oklahoma City University School of Law is one of only two law schools in the country to receive the generous assistance of the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation to help fund several full-tuition scholarships for incoming OCU LAW students. Click here for application information. ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund The mission of the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund is to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school. The American Bar Association awards $5000 in financial assistance to scholarship recipients. In addition, OCU will match this scholarship and award recipients an additional $5000. Click here for application. Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) CLEO was founded with the goal of expanding opportunities for minorities and low-income students to attend law school. OCU LAW supports CLEO and encouraged applicants who meet the criteria to apply for the 6-week Summer Institute, applications are due February 1, 2007. Students admitted to OCU who meet the criteria are strongly encouraged to enroll in their free summer seminar. Rhode Island Bar Foundation Residents of the State of Rhode Island should make application for the Thomas F. Black, Jr. Memorial Scholarship.
Scholarships for Returning Law Students A variety of scholarships are available for law students after their first year of law school. Most awards are based strictly on classroom performance and rank. Applications for these awards are distributed in the spring through the Academic Affairs Office. Law students also have the opportunity to enter external scholarship and writing competitions. |
