Mission

Our mission is to provide future law students with candid, truthful impressions about the law school experience.  We strive to be fully informed about the application process and to provide prospective students with the advice they need to successfully navigate the admissions process.  We support the Office of Admissions during recruitment and outreach events and by communicating directly with prospective students.  We honor the diversity of OCU LAW and the students we attract, and commit to assist them in a respectful, friendly, and informative manner while representing OCU LAW in a loyal, positive manner.

Ambassador Applications for 2007-2008

Thank you to everyone who applied for ambassador position! Next year's ambassadors will be announced by Monday, April 10.

Responsibilities

Ambassadors include upper division students who have volunteered their time to assist prospective law students. They include a diverse, enthusiastic group who attend events for prospective students, offer tours of the law school, and provide candid advice.  Applications for Ambassadors are accepted each spring. Interviews are conducted and approximately 20 students are selected to participate in this important law school program.

Law Ambassadors
  • Participate in three online chats per semester;
  • Summer:  Attend Ambassador Training and participate in LawLawPalooza by sitting on panels, giving tours, and attending activities.
  • Fall: Participate on student panels and serve as tour guides at Open Houses;
  • Spring:  Attend and participate in High Ideals (January), Spring Open Houses (January & February),, Dean's Preview (March or April) and provide tours and lunch with admitted students on a minimum of two "Friday Previews."
  • Commit to approximately 5 hours per month
Senior Ambassadors
  • All responsibilities of Ambassadors but are paid employees of the law school and work in the Office of Admissions 4-6 hours per week.
  • Assist in the coordination of special events for prospective and admitted students.
  • Engage in one-on-one counseling with prospective students.
  • Assist in preparing mailing, sending emails, preparing information packets and other duties in support of Admissions goals and objectives.
  • Assist in training new ambassadors.
  • Commit to approximately 25 hours per month. (20 hours in the Admissions Office)
Senior Minority Liaison Ambassadors
  • Same responsibilities of a Senior Ambassadors but project focus will be on assisting in the development and coordination of outreach mailings, events, and communication with minority applicants.  Must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and multi-cultural outreach.
  • Commit to approximately 25 hours per month. (20 hours in the Admissions Office).
Lead Ambassador
  • Has all of the responsibilities of a Senior Ambassador but also serves as the lead ambassador and coordinates ambassador projects.
  • Will receive advanced training in admissions and recruitment policies and procedures.
  • Participates in strategic planning for recruitment and outreach projects designed to educate and inform prospective law students about OCU LAW and the admissions process.
  • An excellent opportunity to learn about an alternative legal career.
  • Commit to approximately 45 hours per month (40 hours in the Admissions Office).
