Dr. Matt Hamilton is a full-time tenured professor in OCU’s Mass Communications department.
Hamilton joined the department in 1997.His major areas of teaching are advertising and public relations.
Hamilton’s professional experience includes serving as an account executive for Ackerman McQueen Advertising Agency in Oklahoma City and DDB Needham Worldwide in Dallas, Texas.
While at Ackerman McQueen, Hamilton’s clients included Oklahoma Gas & Electric, Southwestern Bell, Homeland, UroCor, and Foodbrands America.
At DDB Needham, Hamilton developed national brand and promotional campaigns for companies including GTE Corporation, GTE Mobilnet, Cellular One, Frito-Lay, and FootAction USA. He coordinated the test markets and launches for several new Frito-Lay products, including Baked Lays and Rold Gold Fat Free Pretzels.
Hamilton has a doctorate in education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He has a master's of business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a bachelor of arts from Oklahoma City University.
Karlie Harmon, Director of International Mass Communications Programs

Professor Karlie Harmon is a full-time tenured professor in OCU's Mass Communications department.
Harmon has served as the department’s director of international programs since 2004. Prior to that, she was the department’s chairwoman from 1982 to 2004. Her major areas of teaching are broadcasting and video.
Harmon’s diverse professional experience includes work in both print and broadcast media.
Harmon began teaching at OCU in 1978 while continuing professional consulting activities. She is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, Broadcast Education Association and Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association.
Harmon holds a master’s of arts in Mass Communications from the University of Oklahoma in Norman and bachelor of arts from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.
Kenna Griffin, Assistant Professor/Director of Student Publications

Kenna Griffin is an assistant professor in Oklahoma City University’s Mass Communications department.
Griffin joined the department in 2003. Her major areas of teaching are journalism and public relations. She also serves as the university’s director of student publications.
Griffin’s professional experience includes working as a staff writer at The Oklahoman and managing editor for the Guthrie News Leader. She continues to work as a corresponding writer for The Oklahoman.
Griffin advises Oklahoma City University’s student newspaper, The Campus, as well as the publication’s online version, The Campus online. She oversees operations of the student yearbook, The Constellation.
Griffin is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, College Media Advisers, Oklahoma Press Association, and Oklahoma Collegiate Press Association’s advisory board.
Griffin is pursuing a Ph.D. in Mass Communications from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. She has a master’s of education from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond and a bachelor of arts from Oklahoma City University.
Andrew Gibson, OCU-TV Station Manager and Artist in Residence

Andrew Gibson serves as OCU-TV Station Manager/ Artist in Residence. Gibson primarily teaches production courses in the broadcasting track of the department.
Gibson’s professional experience includes serving as a sports reporter/anchor for KTEN-TV in Denison, Texas. While there he covered a wide array of teams including the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, as well as high school sports.
Gibson also worked for KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City as a video journalist before moving to London, England, where he worked for Chelsea Football Club. While living in the U.K. he married his wife Lindsay in Scotland.
Upon returning from London, Gibson began his teaching career at Norman Public Schools teaching studio production. He also worked for the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets during their two seasons in Oklahoma City, operating a baseline camera for the big screen at home games in the Ford Center.
Gibson holds an M.A. in Mass Communications and B.A. in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma.
In his spare time Gibson enjoys running and training for the next marathon. He also loves playing and watching soccer.
Bruce Macella, Professor of Graphic Design

Bruce Macella is a full time tenured professor in the Mass Communications Department.
Macella joined OCU in 1997 after teaching Visual Communications at the University of Oklahoma.
Macella began working as an Art Director/Graphic Designer in Chicago before moving to Oklahoma to work In-house with Sonic Industries. He also worked for Rick McIntosh Design before doing freelance work for Ad Agencies, & clients like McDonalds, KZBS Radio, the University of Oklahoma’s College of Business, Landmark Land, various Oil companies, Nevis–International Banking, and the Waterford in Oklahoma City. He also remains active in the Design community with a few projects for Square Mile Design.
Macella joins the Mass Communications department after teaching Graphic Design in the Art department for more than 10 years. He heads the new Graphic Design Minor in the department.
He has an AS degree from Triton College, a BFA & MFA from the University of Oklahoma in Visual Communications. Macella remains active in the professional community with IAO, AIGA organizations, as well as competitions and internship opportunities.
Moose Tyler, Instructor

Moose Tyler’s professional career started at Young & Rubicam Advertising in New York City. At Y&R Moose gained experience in the account service, media, and creative departments. She worked on local, national and international accounts that included Sony, Advil, Pella Windows, United Airlines, All Nippon Airways, British Airways, Star Alliance Network, and the Bronx Zoo.
After Y&R, Moose joined the creative team at Jordan Associates in Oklahoma City as a copywriter. During her tenure at Jordan she worked on local, regional, and national accounts that included Cellular One, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Hardee’s, OERB, Neurosmith Toy Company, Oklahoma Honda, and The Oklahoman.
Moose has won multiple Gold and Silver Addys for her creative work in both TV and print.
Currently she is an instructor of Mass Communications at Oklahoma City University. In addition to teaching courses in the advertising and public relations tracks of the Mass Communications department, Moose also works as a freelance copywriter and PR and marketing consultant for local businesses.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Mass Communications and a Master of Liberal Arts from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Science in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from New York University.
In her spare time Moose enjoys playing golf, writing fiction, woodworking, taking karate, and irritating print journalism professor, Kenna Griffin.
Kathy Harris, OCU-TV Studio Coordinator

Kathy Harris is a part-time administrative assistant in OCU-TV in the mass communications department. She came to OCU in July 1988, working full-time in the mass communications department. She moved to TV in 1990, so she would work part-time.
In 1994, Harris received a bachelor of science from OCU.
Harris has a daughter who attended OCU in the past and a son who is enrolled. Her husband, Lyndel Harris, is the university's chief of police.
In her leisure time, Harris helps her husband train their thoroughbred race horses. She also likes playing with her grandsons, shopping and watching sports.
Karen Vann, Administrative Assistant

Karen Vann is a full-time administrative assistant in the Mass Communications department. She came to OCU in Fall 2004.
Vann’s professional experience includes three years working with children with special needs at Mustang Public Schools.
Vann is involved with the OCU United Way Silent Auction. She also assists with the campus cook-off and cook book to help raise fund for the OCU Benevolent Fund. Currently, Vann serves on Staff Council and is the Communications officer. She is part of the Budget Fundraising Governing Board Committee of the Staff Council as well. She serves as 'Mom away from home' for our students. Vann coordinates a monthly luncheon for students, faculty, and staff in her department and it is always a great time of fellowship.
In her leisure time, Vann enjoys watching sports, swimming, reading, listening to music, home improvement, craft projects, and cooking.
Vann spends the majority of her time away from work with her friends and family. Karen feels that family and friends are a true blessing and should be cherished.
