Jr. High $200 (half days)

Key Faculty: David Steffens

Under the guidance of Dr. David Steffens, OCU’s Percussion Professor and Principal Percussionist of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, students combine traditional technique and modern styles to reflect today’s musical needs. Whether you are in marching band, symphonic band or your school’s orchestra you will gain valuable skills at this pre-college intensive program.

Students from across the nation will travel to Oklahoma City University for personal training from our working professionals. It’s important to receive training from professional musicians who are working in today’s fast-changing industry.

Training takes places at the new, $38 million Bass Music Center, the nation’s most technologically up-to-date music facility. Come study in our new percussion studios and see why we are so excited about this new space!

Admissions to the high school program is by audition. Click here for audition requirements

Admission to the jr. high program is first come, first accepted. We recommend early application to reserve your spot. Everyone who registers by February 10 will receive our 10% early bird discount!

Daily instruction will include technique classes for snare drum, marimba, vibes, timpani, drum set, and hand drums. Students will also play in drum and percussion ensembles and give a performance at the end of the week.

OCU Summer Music is pleased to offer special scholarships to students selected to participate in All-State (must be awarded by a state's Music Educators Association) and those recognized by the NFAA ARTS Awards. Documented proof of participation/award required.

We are also pleased to offer the OCU Summer Music Program Youth Orchestra/Symphony Scholarship to students who are current members of a certified youth orchestra or symphony. Please contact our office at (405) 208-5410 for details.
