The 2008 Performing Arts Academy Summer Music Programs
2008 OCU Summer Program sessions dates have been announced. Please visit your program of interest for details.
Each summer, students from around the United States and the world travel to the Oklahoma City University campus to participate in the Performing Arts Academy’s Summer Programs. Our intensive pre-college programs are designed for the serious instrumentalist and vocalist who want to develop their talents and be challenged by OCU’s high standards. Our programs are chiefly directed and instructed by faculty from OCU's outstanding Bass School of Music and TheatreOCU. Participants receive the same training that our undergraduate students - the same training that has produced Tony, Grammy and Emmy award winners such as two-time Tony nominee and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth, two-time Tony nominee Kelli O’Hara, Emmy nominated Ron Raines, Metropolitan Opera legend Leona Mitchell, award-winning guitarist Edgar Cruz and Grammy & Emmy winner Mason Williams.
The new $38 million Bass Music Center – the most technologically advanced music facility in the nation – houses the daily instruction. Facilities include a 1,100 seat auditorium, 350 seat theater, 400 seat recital hall, three large rehearsal halls, ensemble rehearsal rooms, sixty sound-proof practice rooms and beautiful faculty teaching studios.
Admission to the Summer Programs is based on performance ability and each program has its own age restrictions and requirements. We accept talented junior high and high school students who possess outstanding maturity, responsibility and self-motivation. High school students must audition or provide audition submissions. Students may be considered for scholarships and financial assistance based on talent and financial need.
Students may send taped submission for admission consideration. In-person auditions will also held in Oklahoma and at selected locations around the nation. For audition requirements, please click here.
OCU Summer Programs is pleased to offer special scholarships to students selected to participate in All-State (both vocal and instrumental), those recognized by the NFAA ARTS Awards and to winners of the Theater Scholarship Competition. Documented proof of participation/award required.
Students who are accepted and submit tuition deposit by February 10th, 2008 receive 10% off their entire tuition. Early application also provides students with good financial aid and scholarship consideration. Click here for tuition and policies
