The Wanda L. Bass Music Center on the OCU Campus
About OCU Ensembles

To watch live performances of the OCU ensembles from your computer, just go to the Bass School’s online streaming site.

The variety of performance opportunities is as rich as the red earth the Bass School is built upon. Opportunities include the OCU Symphony Orchestra, Wind Philharmonic, Opera and Music Theater Company Orchestra; jazz ensembles; new-music concerts; chamber music ensembles; choral groups; cabaret showcases; and six opera and musical theater productions each year. Students are encouraged to expand their range: to conduct ensembles, to form new performing groups, to have their original works read and recorded. More than 200 events – ranging from solo recitals to collaborations involving several ensembles – are staged throughout the academic year.

Performers are instrumental to the flow of creative energy between music disciplines. Instrumental performance majors receive intense individual attention from faculty who continue to perform professionally and who love to teach. Students learn a deeper appreciation of the repertoire through interpretation and performance, and learn how to collaborate in shaping new music.

Instrumentalists gain experience in all genres and periods, covering music from the classical to the cutting edge, from the solo to the symphony, from audition to performance.

Our students have full access to the finest equipment. Each classroom, teaching studio, practice room, rehearsal space, and performance hall in the Bass School of Music features at least one Steinway piano, representing the highest level of sound and color in music.
