David Robillard

David Robillard

David Robillard is a violinist, pianist, and graduate of the Manhattan School of Music. His professional music career has spanned more than 34 years.

He is concertmaster of the Lawton Philharmonic, associate concertmaster of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic for 11 seasons, and of the Oklahoma Symphony for five seasons. From 1979-81, he was a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. He has played summer festivals including The New Hampshire Festival, the White Mountains Festival, The St. Paul Summer Opera, The Oregon Bach Festival, and Michigan’s Northwoods Festival.

He is a member of the New Lyric String Quartet, performing as second violinist and as pianist, in the piano quartet literature. This ensemble has had several two-week summer residencies in Lake City, Colorado, and has performed widely in Oklahoma, and Kansas.

He is a staff accompanist at Oklahoma City University’s Bass School of Music, and of the Tuba-Euphonium Workshop at the University of Oklahoma. He teaches violin and piano as a member of the Oklahoma Suzuki Associates, and violin at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

He is a member of the bass section of the choir of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Oklahoma City. He enjoys motorcycling and jazz piano. He wife, Donna Robillard, is an organist and social worker.

At the Manhattan School of Music, he studied violin with Robert Gerle. Previous studies on violin were with Anthony Gilombardo, Robert Paul, Robert Hotal, and Clifford Brunzell, in his native Minneapolis. He studied piano with Paul Freed and Audrey Wiebusch, and with Ernestine Scott; chamber music with Joe McSpadden and Lillian Fuchs.
