Jeffrey White is adjunct instructor of percussion and ensemble librarian at Oklahoma City University.

He earned his BME and MM in percussion performance from Central Michigan University, where he studied percussion and timpani with the late Robert Hohner, and is completing requirements for his DMA from Michigan State University.

He was an active member of the Robert Hohner Percussion Ensemble and performed on internationally released recordings on the DMP and Troy/Albany labels. Current projects include recording percussion duo and percussion/saxophone literature and a performance of Maslanka’s “In Lonely Fields” with the Holland Symphony in October 2006.

He has performed with Andy Narell, Russ Miller, David Friedman, David Samuels, Garrison Keillor and Dave Brubeck, and worked closely with composers such as David Gillingham, David Maslanka and Michael Daugherty. White has commissioned works from Scott Harding, Mack Pittard, Stephen A. Martin, Kelly Cotter and David Gillingham.

White taught in Hohner’s percussion studio at CMU from 1998-2001. Responsibilities included arranging and instructing marching percussion, percussion techniques, private percussion lessons, and Percussion Ensemble. He also taught at Alma College and Michigan State University, and in the public school system in Petoskey, Mich., where he maintained a studio of 28 students. His experience with marching, concert and world percussion have made him a sought-after instructor and adjudicator.

He is a former principal percussionist/assistant timpanist with the Midland Symphony Orchestra. In 2004, he was one of 30 participants from 12 countries to participate in the Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic marimba and percussion course in Engers, Germany with concerts in Frankfurt. Additional teachers include Gwendolyn Burgett-Thrasher and David Hall.
