In addition to the tuition, there will be a fee for the tools listed below. They will be ordered for each participant. Students who already have some tools will be charged a lesser fee.
Cane, Short Mandrel, Long Mandrel, Bassoon Plaque, Diamond Files, 22 Gauge Brass Wire, X-acto knife, 8 in. wooden dowel, Needlenose pliers, Sandpaper, Duco cement, Cutting block, and Cotton String.
Audition Required: No audition is required to participate in the program.
Age range: This program is open to current 5th - 12th graders. The program is also open to collegiate undergraduates.
Mailed applications will be accepted beginning December 1st, 2014.
OCU Summer Music Bassoon Camp is led by Anna Resnick Henson who was appointed adjunct professor of bassoon at Oklahoma City University in Fall 2006. Anna received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas and her Masters in Bassoon Performance from Boston University. Anna’s principle teachers include Betty Johnson, Kathleen Reynolds, Richard Svoboda, Matthew Ruggiero, and Carl Rath.
In addition to her work at the Bass School of Music, Anna has spent time teaching elementary music and maintains a thriving bassoon studio in the Oklahoma City Metro. She grew up in the area and has enjoyed a long relationship with Oklahoma City University, from performing with the Children’s Choir at the age of 12, through her high school years with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra. Anna recently got married and enjoys long-distance running, spending time with her family, attending multi-cultural events and, of course, making bassoon reeds
The OCU Performing Arts Academy Bassoon Camp is designed to provide expert training and performance experience in solo repertoire and ensemble playing. Through instruction provided by our faculty you will be inspired and challenged to develop as a musician and a performer. Each student will participate in master classes and participate in a final concert. This program will also feature reed making.
Instrumental students who submit registration form and $35 application fee by March 1st, 2014 receive 10% off their entire tuition. Early application also provides financial aid consideration for qualified applicants.
Registration deadline is May 1st. Applications received after this deadline will be considered late and the registration fee will be $45.
OCU Summer Music is pleased to offer a $50 scholarship to students selected to participate in their state's honor orchestra (All-State). Documented proof of participation/award required.
We are also pleased to offer the OCU Summer Music Program Youth Orchestra/Symphony Scholarship ($50) to students who are current members of a certified youth orchestra or symphony. Please contact our office at (405) 208-5410 for details.
