Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will hold an informal chat with the Oklahoma City University community from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the Homsey Family Moot Courtroom in Sarkeys Law Center.
Justice O’Connor will discuss her life, career and the need for civics education in Oklahoma. The chat, titled “A Conversation with Justice Sandra Day O’Connor,” is sponsored by OCU and the Oklahoma Bar Association.
The event is open to students and the university community. Seating is first come, first served. The presentation will begin promptly at 2:30 and no entry will be allowed after the presentation begins.
President Ronald Reagan nominated Sandra Day O’Connor as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, and she took the Judicial Oath in 1981. Justice O’Connor retired from the Supreme Court on Jan. 31, 2006. She founded iCivics in 2009 in an effort to reverse Americans’ declining civic knowledge and participation.
