Choirs from three colleges in the state — Oklahoma City University, University of Oklahoma and University of Central Oklahoma — will unite to present a holiday-themed gospel concert titled “One Night with the King” at 6 p.m. Saturday. The concert is free to the public and will be in OCU’s Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel on N.W. 23rd Street between Blackwelder and Kentucky avenues.
The three gospel choirs each host their own respective concerts every year, but for the first time decided to collaborate on one large concert this year. The holiday season program Saturday will include “I Am Your Song” by Jonathan Nelson and Purpose; “God is Great” by Ricky Dillard and New G; “No One Like You” by Judith McAllister and other selections. More than 40 students, musicians and special guests will perform.
Donations will be collected to support the Mission Ministry of the Inner City Church, an annual community service project of Oklahoma City University’s Generation Blessed Gospel Choir.
The guest director for the program is Brian W. Fugett. The Oklahoma University Gospel Choir is under the direction of Ryan Marsh and Elijah Frederick. The University of Central Oklahoma Ebony Gospel Choir is led by Am’re Ford. The OCU Generation Blessed Gospel Choir president is Isaiah Bailey.
