The Exercise and Sport Science Department at Oklahoma City University has established an agreement with Angelo State University in Texas for guaranteed acceptance of OCU graduates into its Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Under the agreement, students who graduate from OCU with at least a 3.5 GPA in the exercise science major and meet other minimum requirements will earn a seat in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Angelo State.
Jason Miller, chairman of the department at OCU, said the agreement gives students a unique opportunity in a highly competitive process.
“Physical therapy graduate programs are extremely difficult to get in to,” Miller said. “There aren’t very many accredited programs to choose from, and physical therapy schools have more limited capacity than other graduate programs. This agreement gives our students a huge advantage in the process.”
The university in West Texas boasts a 98 percent licensure pass rate and 100 percent employment rate for all of its licensed graduates. The ASU program has full accreditation from the Commission of Accreditation for Physical Therapy Education.
