Dignitaries from the city and state converged on Oklahoma City University to dedicate the newly opened third floor of Nursing School East, signaling the completion of the second and new building of Kramer School of Nursing. The dedication honored the Dean whose vision brought it and the many successes of KSN to fruition. In a surprise orchestrated by Associate Deans Dr. Lois Salmeron and Dr. Linda Cook, and President Robert Henry, The Marvel L. Williamson Center for Excellence in Nursing Education and the Marvel L. Williamson Endowed Scholarship were both unveiled at the dedication ceremony. Dr. Williamson states:
"The grand accomplishments of Kramer School of Nursing have never been pursued out of personal ambition. The motivation came because the state of Oklahoma, the university, and the nursing school needed each proposed action, with careful acknowledgement of God's grace to explain our successes. Credit must also go to the people who supported my audacious goals and adopted them as their own. Without a university that allowed me to be visionary and entrepreneurial, without faculty and staff who got behind every task and thrived in an environment of constant and rapid change, all of my dreams would have died."
